Before I ever helped someone build wealth through real estate, I had to lose everything myself.

Have you ever been in a job where you realized you're harming your clients? I hope not — it's certainly not a good feeling — but that's exactly where I was right out of college. I landed a position at a mortgage lending company, calling leads and convincing homeowners to refinance. At first, I didn't think much of it — I was just happy to have a paycheck and support my then-wife and my two boys, Jake and Max. However, as the years went by, I grew more and more skeptical. I realized I was leading people toward bankruptcy. So I quit.
I moved to Phoenix to be closer to family, this time with more experience and a sharper eye for sketchy business models. I became a mortgage broker at a much cleaner company, matching clients with the right lenders. For the first time, I felt like I was genuinely helping people — and doing well financially. I began investing in real estate left and right and became a REALTOR® so I could sell my own properties.
What I didn't see coming — and what shook me to my core — was the market crash. The mortgage brokerage I worked for went out of business. Property values plummeted. I lost my rental properties, burned through hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings trying to stay afloat, couldn't pay my mortgage, and ultimately filed for bankruptcy. I even lost my primary home.
I couldn't believe it. In the span of months, I had lost every asset and every dollar I had. I thought I was unstoppable — and suddenly I was on my knees, asking myself: what am I going to do now?

I had to change course completely. I did whatever it took to recover financially — bartending, working for startups, healthcare, selling insurance, and student enrollment at Grand Canyon University. Slowly, I rebuilt. I bought another home, learned to invest much more conservatively, and found my footing again.
Then came another pivotal moment: my divorce. Ending a long marriage is never easy. I ruminated constantly, wondering if I could have done things differently, worrying about the impact on my boys. But I have to be honest — the divorce, combined with the loss of both of my parents around the same time, forced me to stop and truly reflect on my own mortality. I decided that whatever time I had left, it would be filled with love and harmony.
That decision gently shifted the direction of my life once more. My passion for real estate found its way back, and I eased into the work — rebuilding my knowledge of contractor estimates, home improvement costs, and investment analysis. Along the way, I was fortunate to find love again with my wife, Jamie, and begin a new chapter together.
My boys are in their 20s now, making their way in the world. As for me, I play guitar in my free time, spend time with friends, and do my best to live a balanced

life. It took some hard lessons to get here — but here is exactly where I want to be. The richest I have ever felt has nothing to do with my portfolio — it's Saturday mornings with Jamie, watching my boys figure out their lives, playing guitar until I forget what time it is. Real estate gave me a career. The hard years gave me perspective. And perspective, it turns out, is worth more than anything I lost.
I’m driven by a genuine love for people and a desire to support them through one of the most meaningful decisions of their lives. I understand that buying a home is both a major financial investment and an emotional milestone, especially in today’s challenging market. That perspective deepens my empathy, particularly for younger buyers navigating a tough economy.
That's why I'm excited to announce that I’m partnering with Will Carter, who is a seasoned REALTOR® with 30 years of experience. Will is a full-time agent, which reflects the level of commitment and attention our clients deserve.

As a licensed REALTOR®, I'm driven by a genuine love for people and a desire to support them through one of the most meaningful decisions of their lives. I understand that buying a home is both a major financial investment and an emotional milestone. That perspective deepens my empathy, particularly for younger buyers navigating a tough economy. With years of experience in the mortgage industry, I bring a strong understanding of the process from a bank's point of view, and as an investor myself, I've learned firsthand what works and what to avoid. I'm persistent in finding the right home, thoughtful about long-term outcomes, and committed to helping my clients create a plan that makes homeownership genuinely possible.
